When I get down in the mouth, looking at far flung places and tropical jet setters I step outside my back door and take a breath. It may drizzle, rain and lets face it, pour but once I pull on my wellingtons and venture fourth into the great outdoors, my soul is soothed. There is something about being outside that remedies the hustle of life, nature could’t care less about 9-5, it doesn’t count it’s calories or possess a screen. Nature just is. If you rekkie far enough the urban buzz begins to fade and the simplicity can take over. If only for a fleeting moment you experience life in it’s rawest state, how it all began. Man is great, our achievements cannot be denied, but we haven’t got a patch on nature. For me, outdoors brings perspective, I simply stand in awe and feel life’s complications unwind and float away in the breeze. It’s enough to make me grateful for our current frugal state of affairs, I fear I would appreciate the ancient woodland on my doorstep far less if I were rushing to catch a flight.
How do you ‘get away from it all’?
