What I adore about Christmas is making it your own. My family have always had lovely festive traditions but as people grow up, pass on and move about it can feel a little blue as life changes. After my family home was sold I kissed my childhood traditions farewell and treasured them up in my heart. It was the end of a beautiful era and the start of building my home with my very own little family. As Florence grew in my belly last year we began to form a new Christmas pattern, bringing together fond past times to create our new family traditions.
Picking the tree is monumental, we set aside a whole day to focus on this sacred task and it is one of my absolute favourites. Just like last year we set off to our beloved Peterly Manor Farm, wrapped up warm and skipped about the aisles of trees. Drank mulled goodness by the fire in the yurt and spent the rest of the day donning our tree with beauties, some old, that my mum brought when we were young and some new.
I cannot wait to tell Florrie what Christmas was like when we were little but the very best thing will be the Christmas traditions that will evolve now we are three.
What are your festive traditions?
