It’s finally arrived…the most wonderful time of the year! I whole heartedly adore this season, my very best memories of engagement, marriage and our sweet baby girl belong to December. The magic of Christmas flows in my veins and lights a fire in my belly that smoulders year round.
Christmas draws people together, it unites us with love, joy and hope. Tis the season for community. More so than ever don’t we need that in our world? We are on a pretty frugal budget this month and yet I am more excited than ever for my favourite season. We have so many wonderful dates in the diary for celebrations with friends and local festivities. The memories of joy this Christmas for us will be wrapped up in community.
We spent a magical day last weekend with a group of families from our Church filming a gorgeous nativity. In the most beautiful setting of a friend’s rural land we had everything from a working stable to real goats. A group of teenagers from the youth group volunteered to film, direct and edit for us and some wonderful ladies co-ordinated costumes, script and everything we could possibly need. We wrapped up filming around a roaring bonfire and feasted on hotdogs and mulled wine. Young and old working together, sharing food, laughter and making memories. Community is a joyful thing.
This season why not see what’s going on in your community? Churches often have some great things on at this time of year. Come Christmas eve we will be joining our church, wrapping up warm, grasping our lanterns and singing carols as we walk through the local estate (do join us if you’re local!) Find your community this December, get involved, belong, welcome others and bring a little joy into the world this festive time.
