When things go tits up the answer is cake, and prosecco. I’m not necessarily condoning this as the sole method of problem solving however, it has it’s time and place. Our time and place was 4 o’clock on this gloriously sunny Good Friday. After a restless night with a poorly babe and a morning of hanging around the hospital waiting for a doctor’s appointment (the unwritten rule of the universe, you/your child/your dog will get ill only at 2am and/or on a public holiday) I was ready to pack it in and and strike off the entire Easter weekend. I do have a fledgling flare for the dramatic, as does my daughter evidently, who burst the blood vessels in her face from screaming so hard.
Instead of allowing me to bury my head under the duvet for the entirity of Easter -I’m not sure Jesus would have appreciated my sulking much anyhow – my husband dragged me out of the house. Thank goodness for our local farm, whacking great slices of chocolate mud cake, for a fabulously timed ‘Fizz Friday’ and the last rays of wonderful sunshine.
Florence and I had planned to make and share these Chocolate Easter Lollies with you. They are from the Bake Off’s lovely Martha (check out her blog for some delicious recipe inspo!). Sadly the combination of runny noses and overflowing dirty dishes didn’t lend itself so well to tempering chocolate. But next time the plan goes to pot just remember, there is always a slice of chocolate cake around the corner and a bigger picture to lift our eyes.
